More about 9th International Yoga Day

International Yoga Day is observed on 21st June every year following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014 as proposed by our Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This year marks the 10th edition of the International Day of Yoga. The theme chosen for this year's International Day of Yoga 2024 is "Yoga for Self and Society".

This year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in performing a common yoga protocol session on the occasion of the 10th International Yoga Day on 21 June 2024. P.M. Modi, who was on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, performed yoga with other dignitaries at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.

The primary objective of the International Day of Yoga is to emphasize the promotion of yoga for mental and physical well-being, raising awareness about its benefits, and encouraging the cultivation of a regular meditation practice. This day holds great importance in shedding light on the importance of psychological and physical wellness in today's world.
