“Early detection of cancer saves lives, and it could save yours”
A lecture by Dr. Rajveer Dahiya from USA on the topic A Novel mRNA Genomic Technology for Precision Medicine and Oncology was organized by the Medical Research Unit in Lecture Theater 5 at Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences on Thursday. Dean Dr. Kuldeep Singh Lalar was present as the chief guest on this occasion. At the end of the program, Dr. SK Singal, Chairman of the Anesthesia Department, thanked everyone.

The lecture was organized by the PGIMS with the aim of disseminating the latest developments and methodologies in cancer detection to medical professionals, researchers, and students.
Addressing the doctors present on the occasion, Dr. Kuldeep Singh Lalar said that he has known Dr. Dahiya for a long time and he is an excellent doctor as well as a good researcher. He said that such lectures create a lot of awareness among the doctors of the institute and they get updated about the latest technology in the medical world. Dr. Lalar said that we should keep organizing such lectures from time to time. MRU in-charge Dr. Simmi Kharb, while talking about Dr. Rajveer Dahiya, said that he is the scientific advisor of many countries.

He said that Dr. Dahiya's research articles have been published in more than 200 national and international journals. Dr. Simmi Kharb said that she wholeheartedly thanks Dr. Dahiya for taking out time from his busy schedule to deliver the lecture here today.

The forum was conducted by Dean Student Welfare Dr. Gajendra Singh. He said that today's lecture has greatly enriched the knowledge of the students of the institute. Dr. Rajbir Dahiya in his lecture explained what mRNA technology is. He explained what precision medicine is. He said that we still rely mostly on biopsy for confirmation of cancer. Dr. Dahiya said that we should emphasize on screening and early diagnosis, while he also explained in detail about genetic testing. He said that he had started testing on 30000 genes in which about 100 to 200 genes were identified and by the end 25 to 30 genes were identified, for which he has also got five patents in the USA. On this occasion, many doctors and hundreds of students including Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Dr. Geeta Gathwala, Dr. Virendra Kadian, Dr. Rajesh Gupta, Dr. Vandana, and Dr. Anjali Verma were present.
