Celebrating International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at SDPGIPS [College of Pharmacy]


 

"Educational Institutions Promote Drug-Free Lifestyles in Nasha Mukt Bharat Pakhwada"

 

On June 26th, 2024 SDPGIPS [College of Pharmacy] joined the global community in commemorating the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. This significant day, established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1987, aims to raise awareness about the major problem that illicit drugs represent to society. SDPGIPS [College of Pharmacy] commitment to this cause was evident in event organized to educate, engage, and empower students and staff alike.

The college also celebrated Nasha Mukti Bharat Pakhwada, a fortnight dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and promoting a drug-free lifestyle. The event was marked by a series of informative sessions, and enthusiastic participation from students and faculty alike. The event was celebrated in the Auditorium of College of Pharmacy PGIMS Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences Rohtak organized by State institute of mental health.

 

The celebration kicked off with an inaugural speech by the worthy Dr. Manish Dhall, Assistant Professor, College of Pharmacy, as he welcomed our guests and shed light on this event.

The keynote speaker, esteemed Dr. Purushottam from the State Institute of Mental Health shared insightful perspectives on the psychological and social aspects of addiction, urging students to make informed choices. He delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of a drug-free society and the role of youth in achieving this vision.

At last, respected Dr. Suchitra, SDPGIPS [College of Pharmacy] presented the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the organizers, speakers, and attendees. She also thanked Dr. Purushottam and his team for giving their precious time to guide the attendees and to organize this event that helps to build a drug-free India.

A significant moment of the event was the pledge ceremony, where students,  faculty members and college staff collectively took an oath to abstain from drugs and to promote awareness about their harmful effects. The ceremony symbolized the commitment of the entire college community to work towards a drug-free India.

This celebration at the college was a resounding success, thanks to the enthusiastic participation of students, faculty, and guest speakers. The event not only raised awareness about the dangers of drug abuse but also empowered students with the knowledge and resources to make positive choices. By fostering a supportive and informed community, our college has taken a significant step towards contributing to a drug-free India.
